The Role:

Reporting into the Head of Content Programs, this individual will be wholly accountable for the global learning and development program for the Platts content group, in EMEA, across the Price Reporting; News; Analytics and Content Operations functions at S&P Global Platts.

Working in close partnership with theLearning & Development Manager, Americas; Head of Data & Training, Analytics and the Director of Global Energy Education & Trainingthe role provides management oversight and development for Platts training programs for Platts Content Group (approximately 500 staff, which underpins the products deliverables which drive much of Platt s revenue).

In concert with theLearning & Development Manager, Americas; Head of Data & Training, Analytics and the Director of Global Energy Education & Trainingthe role develops the annual L&D strategy, and continuously assesses the organizational learning development needs, and what resources will be brought to bear to meet those needs.

This senior leadership role works with senior and middle management across all commodities, and works across functional departments to design, build and deliver cohesive, aligned learning solutions and talent programs - initiatives across the Content division.

This individual will in a consultative capacity drive the development and active utilization of training roadmaps for all Content Group staff in order to provide a strong professional development culture across the Content division. In addition to working closely with the Content Group, the role will partner with HR and Corporate L&D, in special projects related to staff development.

Develop the global learning and development program and strategy for Platts Content team and across the division

  • Working with senior stakeholders, in a consultative capacity, to develop and execute a learning culture through and an aligned development vision for Platts Content group.

  • Works with the content management team to develop an annual strategy for L&D

  • Assess new training development needs across the editorial group and in a consultative capacity support the development, re-design and implementation of existing and new training

  • Lead representative with corporate L&D function

  • Design and promote e-learning strategy (Lynda.com and Oxford Princeton) where applicable

  • Align training roadmap with editorial and commodity group priorities and initiatives

  • Advocacy of wider learning across content, promoting the sharing of knowledge and learning across the organization (e.g. through lunch & learns)

  • Responsible for updating training roadmap and ensuring execution against training priorities

  • Monitor training metrics and liaise and drive action based on those outcomes

    • Develop mentoring - coaching as an aspect of Platts development activities (i.e. CAP and Editorial Abroad

    • Continuously evaluate current training curriculums (through surveys; observation and internal - external feedback) and recommend necessary changes - adjustments.

  • Manage structured, repeatable survey program for various development activities

Measures, monitors and analyzes L&D progress through metrics dashboard and regularly reports to management teams

Lead the development and updates to the Content Group s L&D curriculums, and other L&D content

  • Ensure continuity and integrity of editorial on-line course library (Oxford Princeton; Editorial Standards & Media Law), as well as other Learning Xchange training content that is relevant to Content

  • Oversees Platts Learning Exchange content and activities (divisional online training library)

    • Ensure timely schedule of updates are implemented to training materials including:*

    Price Reporting Essentials modules; Content Training; Media Law and Systems Training.

  • Oversee the harmonization of training across Content and act as consultant to management in implementing robust, productive learning plans for their staff

  • Ensure that training courses are available and coordinated at appropriate frequencies across major offices and in satellite offices

  • Establish the training program for the Platts graduate program - Commodity Associates Program and support the program on an as-need basis

Work with HR to ensure Content Leaders are strengthened and keep a track of Management - Leadership Essential training undertaken. Help embed the new Leadership competencies. Drive and reinforce high standards

Oversee L&D resources

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for active trainers in the content group for mandatory training requirements.

  • Ensure continuity of trainers by providing a robust train-the-trainer certification program

  • Ensure that trainers demonstrate best practices for training

  • Coach resources involved in training efforts

    • Lead annual update - engagement sessions with trainers and managers
  • Lead the evaluation of trainers in the classroom

  • Recruit internal resources for instructor roles

  • Act as point for engagement with external vendors based in EMEA and Asia Pac.

  • Develop and manage annual budget for L&D activities globally

Develop metrics to measure the return on investment

Training solutions:

Build, Design and Deliver

  • Designs, develops and - or delivers effective training materials - learning programs - initiatives that will enhance editorial performance

    • Pilots and evaluates delivery of content to ensure appropriate delivery is sustained on an ongoing basis

    • Ensure Training documentation is maintained

    • Ensure that all training documentation is updated in a timely manner

    • Align Platts training content with those practiced across S&P Global

Essential Skills

Previous experience in L&D development in a regulated business is highly desired.

Prior exposure of working in the commodity space is highly desired

Training qualification - certifications - CIPD (UK) preferred but not essential

Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening, written and presentation)

Proven experience of influencing change in driving new processes and behaviours

Ability to facilitate group working sessions and deliver training

Strong team-building and collaboration skills able to bring diverse groups together and get buy-in

Ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders including senior level management, located globally.

Strong project management experience is essential

Strong ability to deliver and execute learning plans - programs

Strong organizational skills and ability to problem-solve

Strong computer literacy with mastery of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Access, MS Project, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Paint; and previous experience with training development applications preferably Articulate

Ability to Travel up to 20%
