The Team:

S&P Global Platts Analytics is looking for a proven manager for our Petrochemical Analytics team who understands the dynamics surrounding chemical feedstocks, specifically olefins, aromatics and their derivatives. In particular, this manager must have a thorough understanding of cracker yields, marginal prices and secondary margins. This person will lead a team that forecasts fundamentals of the olefins and polyolefins markets. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for driving new product development focused on expanding our coverage beyond the current commodities. The team will provide this new and innovative research to clients engaged in various aspects of the petrochemical markets to enable them to make informed trading, risk management and investment decisions.

The Impact:

Petrochemical Analytics Manager, you will be a critical member of the Analytics Team, responsible for conducting market or statistical analysis and interpreting key supply, demand and trade flow data into actionable information for our clients. You will build out detailed, new analytical reports and models that will empower our clients to make business decisions based on strong fundamental analyses.

Your role will focus on strengthening the coverage within our current product portfolio, as well as broadening our reach into related commodities. Speed to market will be critical along with making the reports and analysis crisp, impactful and tradable. You will also be part of a cross commodity team that ensures consistency in outlook across petrochemicals, refined products and NGLs.

As the leader of the petrochemical analytics team, your knowledge of the economics between cracker feedstocks and flat price and the impact of derivatives will be instrumental in forecasting future feedslates. Your knowledge of regional margins and competition will be essential including arbs and derivatives integrated margins.

Working with our News and Pricing team will be key to leveraging the unique capabilities we have in Platts to service our customers with a comprehensive offering and to enable analytics to be first to comment on emerging stories or price movements. In addition this role will work closely with sales and be responsible for client engagement, retention and growth. They will need to conduct regular client briefings and speak at seminars focusing on our petrochemical market outlook.

Responsibilities:

Core responsibilities include:

  • Manage, develop and lead a global, market-leading team of petrochemical analysts.

  • Act as an intellectual leader at the forefront of petrochemical analytics industry who ensures that future content development aligns with market needs.

  • Provide direction on data and analysis related to global petrochemical supply and demand outlooks and resulting price forecasts.

    • Serve as a subject matter expert in areas such as feedstock optimization, alternative sources of olefin supply, e.g., crude to chemicals and CTO - MTO.
  • Develop robust demand forecasts that incorporate new trends, such as recycling and quantify the risk of these market shifts on global supply and demand balances.

  • Incorporate refinery and non-refinery feeds into global supply and demand balances.

  • Guide new product development to broaden Platts Analytics petrochemical coverage.

  • Engage with clients and prospects to share our outlook.

  • Showcase thought leadership externally by representing the petrochemical analytics team at industry conferences and media engagements.

  • Collaborate with the broader Platts petrochemical organization ensuring cohesiveness with strategic direction and ensure alignment of approach

  • 10 years of analytical experience in the petrochemicals industry.

    • Advanced degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, and - or related field of study preferred. Equivalent experience within their discipline also considered.
