S&P Global Software Asset Analyst Lead in Denver, Colorado

S&P Global is currently seeking to hire a Software Asset Management Analyst to drive proactive Software Asset Management. The scope includes all processes and governance necessary for the effective discovery, platform management and reporting of specific software assets within the company. The Software Asset Management Analyst will maintain the license entitlement repository as a part of the overall ITAM strategy which includes the ability to interpret complex licensing agreements of various types and translate the terms and conditions to technical data requirements in the Software Asset Management toolset.

This position partners with other IT departments and finance leads to reconcile measured software deployments to license and maintenance entitlements, and ensure all accounting, regulatory, corporate and legal requirements are met and followed for IT software assets.

This role will be part of a dynamic team that manages all IT Services & Assets for the Digital Infrastructure organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Focus on structuring and restructuring processes, identifying scope and assessing the improvement or design requirements of ITIL v3 based Service Management processes and - or IAITAM Best Practice Library processes. Editing, formatting and publishing of IT Asset Management process documentation as required.

    • Maintains and implements a proactive strategy for software asset discovery and reporting in order to provide accurate data that will be used to ensure compliance with the obligations of vendor licensing agreements and IT Finance policies as they pertain to IT software assets.

    • Analyze large sets of disparate data related to software installation, hardware configuration, procurement, financial, and license entitlement.

    • Leads the implementation of audit readiness processes to ensure we are managing license compliance risks.

    • Maintains proper implementation of Software Asset Management discovery tools, policies, processes, and procedures for effective asset management.

    • Builds strong working relationships with other IT Departments, including, but not limited to, Support & Services, IT Architecture Group, and Technology Services Group to ensure software discovery and reporting meets requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business required

    • 8 years plus of experience in IT software audit or Software Asset Management with a focus on server - mid-range and workstation software products preferred.
  • Knowledge of process engineering, software discovery tools and IT Service Management is a must.

  • Knowledge of major software publisher s licensing rules is also required.

  • Ability to apply broad knowledge of IT business and operations principles, business drivers, and related areas to impact results.

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate technology terms into business terms required.

    • Capable of solving highly complex, non-routine problems and determine the best solution through cost - benefit analysis.
  • Enhanced root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to identify learning opportunities, improve current processes and demonstrated cross functional approach to problem solving.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to work with senior management in the business units to improve processes and communicate metrics.

  • Strong communications (written and verbal) and presentation delivery skills required.
