The Team:

Platts RigData provides timely information pertaining to drilling activity in the United States, the Gulf of Mexico and western Canada for the oil and gas industry. With more than 25 years of experience, Platts RigData reports have supplied important information on the life of the well as detailed by its permits, the actual drilling and completion activities, up through its current production profile.

The Impact:

The successful candidate will have sufficient knowledge of US unconventional, resource and development, well completions and production. They will help support the data team by assessing and applying information related to completions and production technical data. The analyst will work closely with the data team, management, IT, and analytics teams to develop and review business processes around the collection and delivery of state-sourced oil and gas well data, specifically production and completions data.

Responsibilities:

This role will report to the Manager of Completion and Production Data. You will work closely with the Data Team and the Analytics Team. This role will help lead - mentor a world-wide QA team in the development, implementation, and execution of test plans, automation, manual checks, etc. for current and future applications surrounding oil and gas well completion and production data

  • Explore and examine US oil and gas well data from a variety of angles using the appropriate techniques to identify and understand any hidden weaknesses, trends, and opportunities. Then assist in identifying, fixing, documenting, and communicating these potential issues to help improve data collection techniques

    • Define, implement, and enforce a series of quality standards and processes and algorithms for oil and gas well completions and production data including:*

    functional, automated, and performance test planning processes, standards, merges, extractions, metrics, etc. before, and after data has been entered into RigData s PPDM database structure, and aid in reviewing the quality of the data loads

  • Help to optimize QA and testing efficiency while improving quality and customer satisfaction

  • Help create training materials and deliver formal and informal training sessions to aid in the awareness and utilization of these methods for evaluating data

  • Examine, make recommendations, and deploy any machine learning methods for better data transformations

  • Interact with business users to resolve data quality concerns, issues, or problems, collect the specific user requirements, then define and implement the appropriate and practical solutions to resolve the problems or issues

  • Educate the internal analysts and product team on the intricacies of the production and completion data and their reporting practices from one state agency to another.

  • Demonstrated experience working with large datasets and large scale data environment strongly preferred

    • Knowledge of TQM - QA practices preferred
  • Experience with Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI, or other BI analytics tools a plus

  • Knowledge of PPDM a plus
